PITTSBURGH, Pa. - February 5, 2022 - Chatham hosted Stevenson again today in a UCHC Women's Hockey matchup.
The lone goal of the first period would go to Stevenson from a shot tucked just under the crossbar. The Cougars would have ten shots on goal that period, but were unable to find the back of the net.
In the second period, the Cougars would get their equalizer. First-year Samantha Barrett would walk in from the blue line and take a perfect wrist shot into the lower right corner of the net for her first collegiate goal. Chatham's offense would pick up that period overall as they tallied 25 total shots on goal.
Looking for a lead in the third, Chatham was unfortunately plagued by penalties that would result in a power play goal from the Mustangs before a final insurance goal just a minute later.
Senior Katy Reed would make 34 saves in the loss. Junior center Brooke Almond won a game-high nine face-offs in the circle. Defensively, Samantha Barrett led the Cougars in blocks with three.
The Cougars now stand at 11-10 overall and 10-8 in conference. They have a chance to improve their record next Friday and Saturday, February 11th and 12th at Neumann.
