WAYNESBURG, Pa. - February 5, 2022 - Chatham Women's Basketball hit the road early this afternoon to take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets in a PAC matchup. Despite there being a smaller point differential than their first meeting this season (66-54 Chatham), the Cougars cruised to their eighth conference win of the year with a 63-52 final.

First-year Aurielle Brunner would score first for the Cougars, followed shortly after by graduate Maddy Grennes who would shoot for nine straight points in the Cougars' lead. Classmate Brittani Smith would hit two straight three-pointers, followed by one from first-year Zelimar Rodriguez to put the visitors up by more than double the home team's score.

Smith and Brunner were back with their usual offensive contributions in the second quarter, joined by juniors Sierra McClain and Riley D'Angelo. Waynesburg, however, would find some offense of their own, scoring 20 points in that quarter alone.

Chatham would snap back in the third quarter thanks to Grennes, D'Angelo, Smith, and graduate student Julianna Skowron. Defensively, Chatham shut Waynesburg down early in the quarter, and it would not be until the final minutes that they were in reach of the Cougars by five points.

Grennes and Rodriguez would take care of the Chatham offense to start the final quarter, joined later by first-year Emily Durkee and Skowron to hold onto the lead. Waynesburg would manage only five more points in the game while Chatham added 11 more.

Maddy Grennes had a productive game, notching a career-high 23 points while adding another career-high 16 rebounds. Brittani Smith was the only other Cougar to tally double digit points with 13.
