MEDFORD, Mass. - February 25, 2022 - Chatham Women's Squash embarked on day one of the College Squash Association Team Nationals held at Harvard and Tufts Universities. The Cougars faced Georgetown University in their opening match, ultimately losing 7-2.
Sophomores Sofia Ramos Fortanelli and Valentina Della Maddalena would put on stellar performances, defeating their respective opponents 3-0 and 3-1. Ramos Fortanelli would allow just nine points against as the #1 player, followed by Della Maddalena who had one two-point set win and two three-point set wins.
Yushi Zhang would accumulate seven points in her three sets, the highest of the remaining Cougars. Bandhana Phuyal would claim five, Giovanna Gibson would follow with four, Farzeen Shaikh with three, and Yukta Rana with two.
The Cougars will play one final team match tomorrow, February 26th, before the College Squash Association Individual Championships.
