ALLIANCE, Ohio - February 19, 2022 - Chatham University's Women's and Men's Indoor Track teams traveled to Alliance, Ohio this morning for a meet at the University of Mount Union. The Cougars earned some of their highest placements of the season, all the way up to second place.
Today's track star was first-year Jack Matics, who posted a time of 9:20.61 in the 3000 for a second place finish. Later in the day, he took fifth in the 1000 at 2:48.02.
Also taking part in the men's 3000 were first-years Benjamin Brown (10:28.50; 6th) and Lane Macy (10:48.23; 8th) as well as senior Rebecca Pennington (11:52.20; 6th). Like Matics, Pennington also ran in the 1000, taking home a fourth place finish at 3:44.11.
On the distance front, Macie Janto (6:13.82) and Lauren Cox (6:30.51) finished the mile in 9th and 12th place respectively.
The shorter distance events saw even more Cougars with big finishes. In the 800, Kendall Sirignano took 9th (2:39.04), Tresa Coon took 14th (2:44.40), and Macie Janto finished 16th (2:50.56).
Sirignano would earn another 9th place finish in the 400 at 1:05.91, closely trailing Tresa Coon who finished 7th (1:05.61).
The men's team did well in the 400 thanks to Parker Laughlin (54.80; 6th), Brett Seich (56.80; 11th), and Isaiah Sales (58.81; 13th).
In the field, Alexia Page-Boyd threw to another top-five finish, earning fourth in the weight throw with a 13.70m effort. Brent Clutter found himself in 12th place in the same event, throwing 11.10m. Violeta Kenzevich would participate in shot-put, placing 16th with a 9.78m toss.
Jumper Justin Desabato would later place 18th in the long jump, landing at 5.70m.
