Women’s Hockey Rolls to Seven-Goal Win over Anna Maria

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - February 18, 2022 - Chatham Women's Hockey hosted Anna Maria College tonight in a non-conference matchup to conclude the regular season. After a quick lead coming out of the first, the Cougars continued to score in rapid succession for an 8-1 final over the visiting Amcats.

First-year Trinity Antonio would jumpstart the Chatham offense just four minutes in, taking a pass from classmate Chris Worms to find a hole under the goaltender's blocker. Sophomore Cameron Carmody followed suit just under a minute and a half later on the power play, tipping a shot from classmate Kaylynn Savoy that she received from junior defenseman Dena Akers.

The Cougars ran away with the game in the second, adding three more goals to the mix. First-year Rainey Jessup scored in her second straight weekend thanks to a play set up by linemate Trinity Antonio. Jessup was followed by sophomore Ally Nolan twice, who netted her 18th and 19th goals of the season respectively - one of which was short-handed. Classmate Allison Corser-James assisted on both, and juniors Brooke Almond and Dena Akers assisted on one each. Sophomore net minder Lilly Rogers stopped all 11 shots she faced in the period.

Almond would ink her name on the scoresheet yet again, first with a goal of her own with assists to both wings - Nolan and Corser-James. Just ten seconds later, Corser-James would go top shelf, which was once again a whole-line effort. Nolan would complete her hat trick late in the third, with yet another assist to Corser-James and one for senior Fiona Danahy.

Though the Amcats would score in the third, it would be their one and only goal of the game for an 8-1 final. Rogers ended the game with 30 saves.

The Cougars take on Anna Maria yet again tomorrow at 1 PM on home ice.
