PITTSBURGH, Pa. - December 9, 2022 - Men's Hockey hosted Lebanon Valley College tonight at the Hunt Armory in a UCHC matchup. The teams would exchange advantages several times throughout the night, but the Cougars would maintain the final lead for the 5
-?2 victory.
An active first period would see three total goals, first from the Dutchmen. Once the Cougars got going, they would score two goals within 15 seconds of each other.Â
Heath Drye was first on the scoresheet with assists going to
Aidan Girduckis and rookie
Brendan Pomerantz, which would be his first collegiate point.
Caden Smith carried the momentum along with
Nick Cyprian to contibute Chatham's second goal of the game.Â
Lebanon Valley scored the lone goal in the second period, leaving the game knotted at two going into the third.
Cyprian and Smith would switch their previous roles to secure the game winner early in the third, while
Heath Drye would seal the deal halfway through the final period, being assisted by
Kenneth Gill and
Ben Lamm.
Evan Mitchell hit an empty net in the game's final minutes, propelling the Cougars to a 5-2 win.
In goal for the Cougars was
Ricardo Gonzalez, who stopped 24 shots in the victory.
Chatham improves their record to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in conference.
The Cougars are back in action against the Dutchmen again tomorrow at 7 PM at the Hunt Armory.
