PITTSBURGH, Pa. - December 10, 2022 - Chatham Men's Hockey concluded their regular season series with Lebanon Valley tonight at the Hunt Armory. The contest, which ended 3-2 in Chatham's favor, was the Cougars' final effort of the Fall 2022 semester.
Lebanon Valley struck first just under three minutes into the game. Though Chatham did not respond right away, back-to-back powerplay goals would change the tone of the game.
Scoring the first goal was senior
Andrew Warhoftig on a one-timer fed by sophomore
Zack Conner. A minute and a half later, junior
Chris Dusek took advantage of the screened Dutchman goaltender, taking a point shot set up by first-years
Brendan Pomerantz and
Nick Cyprian.
Lebanon Valley would get the equalizer soon after, taking the game into the third tied at two once again.
First-year
Michael Hurst would score an Orr-style game-winner with two and a half minutes remaining in regulation, thanks to a below-the-goal line pass from classmate
Nick Cyprian. The Dutchmen would attempt to pull their goalie for the extra attacker, but they were unsuccessful.Â
Senior netminder
Ricardo Gonzalez made 22 saves in the victory, including nine in the third.
With the win, the Cougars improve to 7-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play. They pick up again next semester with their first games at Alvernia on January 13th and 14th, 2023.
