Women's Basketball Falls to Saint Vincent 65-61

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - December 7, 2022 - Chatham Women's Basketball came up at home against Saint Vincent 65-61 Wednesday night. The Cougars are now 5-3 on the season and 3-2 in the PAC.

First year forward Alyssa Laukus led the Cougars in points, with 17, and rebounds, with seven. Sophomore guard Aurielle Brunner led the team with five assists, and added seven points and three steals. Brunner leads the PAC with 39 steals on the year.

The Cougar offense struggled in the first quarter against the stout Bearcat defense, scoring just five points. However, Chatham's offense bounced back over the next two quarters, scoring 20 in the second and 24 in the third to cut the Saint Vincent lead to one heading into the fourth. The Cougars led by four with six minutes to play, but an 8-0 run from the Bearcats down the stretch proved to be too much.

Saint Vincent blocked 11 shots in the game. Chatham had not had more than five shots blocked in a game this season. The Cougars narrowly won the turnover battle 21-20, but were out rebounded 43-40.

Women's Basketball will hit the road for a noon contest on Saturday against Wooster in Ohio.
