GROVE CITY, Pa. - December 31, 2022 - Chatham Men's Basketball suffered a 76-70 defeat on the road against Grove City Saturday afternoon. The Cougars fall to 5-6 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.
Senior guard
Marcos Cintron paced the team with 21 points on 9-21 shooting. Sophomore guard
Isaiah Smith scored 17 points of his own and added four steals. Graduate guard
Nick Bomar led the Cougars with seven rebounds, and tied for the team lead at three assists with sophomore guard
Blaine Gartley.
The Cougars and Wolverines were neck and neck throughout the first half, with Grove City taking a three-point lead into the break. The Wolverines' lead was just one with 14 minutes left, but they used a 12-0 run to take control of the game, leading by at least eight points until the final minute. In the final minute, Chatham made a comeback push, cutting the lead to just four with 23 seconds to play, but were ultimately unsuccessful.
Grove City out rebounded Chatham 50-32, marking the Cougars worst rebound margin of the season. However, Chatham dominated the turnover battle 28-10 and outscored Grove City 36-4 on points off turnovers.
Men's Basketball is slated to return to the court Tuesday evening at home against Allegheny.
