Men's Basketball Squeaks Past Bethany 73-72

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - December 3, 2022 - Chatham Men's Basketball edged out a one-point victory over Bethany Saturday afternoon at home 73-72. The Cougars are a perfect 3-0 on the year at home. They hold a 3-4 overall record and a 3-1 conference record.

Senior guard Marcos Cintron netted a career-high 30 points on 10-16 shooting from the field and 5-9 shooting from three-point range. Graduate guard Nick Bomar scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 23 minutes. Sophomore guard Blaine Gartley led the team in both rebounds and assists, with nine and six, respectively.

Chatham led for nearly the entire game, but were unable to open things up and put the Bison out of reach. Bethany took its first lead of the game at 72-70 with 2:17 to play. However, Cintron quickly answered with a clutch three-pointer to give the Cougars the one-point lead they would ultimately finish with. The Bison had four possessions in the final 1:38 to try and take the lead, but the Cougars' defense came up big with four stops.

Chatham out rebounded Bethany 40-35, while turnovers were even at 16 a piece.

Men's Basketball hits the court again Wednesday evening on the road against Saint Vincent.
