Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Women’s Hockey Notches Program-First Win Over Manhattanville

PITTSBURGH,Pa. - December 2, 2022 - Women's Hockey hosted Manhattanville tonight in the first of two games this weekend. After two scoreless periods, an offensive frenzy late in the third would leave the Cougars on top of a 2-1 win.

Chatham outshot Manhattanville in the first period 13-11, but Manhattanville dominated the second by a 12-3 margin. First-year goaltender Sam Brophy kept the Valiants frustrated, stopping all 25 shots throughout two periods.

In the third, Allison Corser-James would walk up the wall and cut to the middle for the first goal of the game, with the assist going to Ashley Marchant with just four minutes and 12 seconds remaining in regulation.

Manhattanville's Gabrielle Cox would score on a five-on-three power-play less than two and a half minutes later.

Corser-James would prove to be the hero with just about half of a minute to spare, tipping a shot from Brooke Almond. The Cougars would fend off Manhattanville's final attempts at getting a shot off to secure the win.

Almond won a team-high ten face-offs tonight, followed by Cameron Carmody with seven.

Brophy would finish with 35 saves for her second collegiate win in her second start.

The Cougars interrupted the Valiants' 6-0 win streak with tonight's game. Chatham improves to 4-2-1 in conference.

The Cougars and Valiants face off again tomorrow night at 7 in Pittsburgh.
