WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - November 4, 2022 - Chatham Men's Hockey traveled to King's College this evening for their UCHC-opening matchup against the Monarchs. Despite the score being tied at one after two periods of the play, the Cougars would turn on the offense in the third to bring home the win.
Chatham opened the game with a tip goal from first-year Bekk McClaine, the first of his collegiate career. McClaine got his stick on a shot from junior Aidan Girduckis, who caught the initial pass from sophomore Matthew Doyle.
King's would score with less than four seconds to spare in the first, and that would be the final goal for almost thirty full minutes for either team.
Sophomore defenseman Zack Conner would net the eventual game-winner just under the ten minute mark of the third period. Shortly after, senior Andrew Warhoftig and sophomore Evan Mitchell would follow suit with unassisted goals of their own.
Chatham's final goal was another collegiate first, this time scored by first-year Michael Hurst. A pass from junior defenseman Chris Dusek was caught by classmate Liam Murphy, who sent a cross-ice pass to Hurst in front of the net.
The Cougars hope to do the same tomorrow afternoon at 4 PM when they conclude their first conference weekend against the Monarchs.
