Box Score WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - November 5, 2022 - Chatham Men's Hockey concluded their conference opening weekend against King's today after last night's 5-1 victory. Though today's game would be tighter, the Cougars would come up with a 1-0 win.
Both teams were knotted at zero heading into the second period, and it looked like it would remain that way until the third. However, sophomore Evan Mitchell broke the scoring stalemate on the penalty kill, picking up a drop pass from senior Andrew Warhoftig that was cleared by junior Aidan Girduckis. The short-handed goal would be the only score of the game for either team.
Mitchell also had a team-high six shots on goal, followed by Warhoftig with five and Dimitri Wey and Carson Grainer with four apiece.
In goal, senior Ricardo Gonzalez had a much busier day, stopping all 30 shots fired his way.
The Cougars now stand 2-0 in conference play and 3-1 overall. Their next pair of contests are next Saturday and Sunday against reigning champion Utica.
