PITTSBURGH, Pa. - November 18, 2022 - Chatham Women's Hockey played their home opener this afternoon at the Hunt Armory. The Cougars would get off to a hot start, but King's would put up a late fight.
Junior Ariel Garbin would score right off of a face-off won by senior Brooke Almond just 41 seconds into the game. Shortly after, sophomore Victoria Jeffords found a short-side opening to extend the Cougars' lead to two.
Despite a King's goal at the halfway point, junior Ally Nolan would score thanks to a play set up by linemates Brooke Almond and Allison Corser-James.
Corser-James would find the back of the net early in the second, with assists going to Almond and graduate student Ashley Marchant. Jeffords would net her second of the night while Maddie Sheffield earned her first collegiate assist.
Two King's goals late in the second would be answered in the third by sophomore Trinity Antonio, with linemates Jeffords and Sheffield recording assists. King's would get one more before junior Lauren Carmody scored an empty netter after catching a pass from Cameron Carmody.
The Cougars host the Monarchs yet again tomorrow at noon.
