LANCASTER, Pa. - November 11, 2022 - Chatham University Women's Squash opened their season today against Dickinson College at Franklin and Marshall. The Cougars, who did not record any team victories in their first varsity season, rewrote history this evening with an 8-1 win.
Junior Valentina Della Maddalena was the first Cougar to win this evening, sweeping her opponent in just twelve minutes. Classmate Sofia Ramos Fortanelli would do the same, and both players for Chatham would win a set without a single point against them.
Vasundhra Vasanthan would sweep her challenger in record timing, which was seven minutes in total.
Newcomers Basmala Syed Aref and Sofia Pinto would both record 3-0 victories in their collegiate debuts.
First-year Ta'Niya-Marie Nored was the final Cougar to compete, battling it out to five sets. Unfortunately, Nored would fall in the final set by just four points.
The Cougars are back in action tomorrow morning at 9 AM against number six ranked Penn.
