Cougars Roll to First Win of 2022

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - January 7, 2022 - Chatham Women's Hockey hosted conference opponent Wilkes this evening. After a back-and-forth scoring affair in the first two periods, the Cougars would come out on top with a strong third for a 5-2 final.

The Cougars came out strong, scoring within the first 30 seconds of the game thanks to junior Brooke Almond with assists to sophomore Ally Nolan and senior Grace Pavlovich. Nine minutes later, sophomore Cameron Carmody would score a solo goal to double their lead heading into the second.

The second period saw a momentum shift as the Colonels found the back of the net twice, once on the Cougar penalty kill. First-year Trinity Antonio, however, would reassert the lead in favor of the home team before the period ran out.

Sophomore Kaylynn Savoy would provide the Cougars with two insurance goals, capitalizing off of the efforts of Almond, Nolan, Samantha Barrett, and Lauren Carmody respectively.

In goal, senior Katy Reed stopped 15 shots.

With the win, the Cougars improve to a 6-6 overall record and 5-4 in conference. They will face the Colonels again tomorrow, January 8th, at 2 PM on home ice.
