PITTSBURGH, Pa. - January 22, 2022 - Chatham University Women's Hockey hosted Lebanon Valley College again today in an afternoon UCHC matchup. Though the Cougars mounted a comeback victory in game one against the Dutchwomen, they fell short in game two by a score of 5-2.
Chatham, plagued by penalties, would go scoreless in the first period. Lebanon Valley would catch their break on one of their three power plays late in the period.
Heading into the second, Chatham would break the Dutchwomen's shutout thanks to Dena Akers, who received passes from Cameron Carmody and Abi Fuzaylov coming off of a power play. Unfortunately, the Dutchwomen would get a goal at both the beginning and end of the period, taking the game into the third with a two-goal margin.
Sophomore Kaylynn Savoy would provide the Cougars with an unassisted goal in the third, which was followed shortly after by Lebanon Valley's fourth goal on the Cougar power play. The Dutchwomen would get an eventual empty net goal to finish the game with a three-goal lead.
The Cougars now stand at 8-8 in conference. Their next series is against Alvernia on the road January 29th and 30th.
