PITTSBURGH, Pa. - January 22, 2022 - Chatham Women's Basketball hosted Saint Vincent College this evening in a PAC matchup. The Cougars got off to a hot start, which they maintained throughout the game to come out on top with a 53-45 victory.
Graduate student Julianna Skowron was the first Cougar to find the basket tonight, and she was soon followed by classmate Maddy Grennes and first-years Aurielle Brunner and Emily Durkee. Junior Riley D'Angelo would chime in with a three just before the buzzer, giving the Cougars a 12-point lead.
Chatham continued to dominate Saint Vincent offensively in the second quarter, gaining a lead of 21 points two times. Skowron, Brunner, D'Angelo, and Grennes did not let up, combining for Chatham's additional 11 points.
Saint Vincent would attempt a comeback in the second half, but fell short due to Chatham's strong defense. Graduate student Brittani Smith would work her way into the point rotation, fortifying the Cougar lead once and for all.
Julianna Skowron led the charge, tallying 14 points, including the 1,000th of her career. D'Angelo and Durkee were not far behind, adding 12 each.
Brunner totaled six steals and Grennes grabbed 16 rebounds.
With the win, the Cougars improve to .500 in conference. They look to continue building their record on Monday when they host Waynesburg University.
