HUNT ARMORY, SHADYSIDE, Pa. - January 21, 2022 - Chatham Women's Hockey hosted Lebanon Valley tonight in a UCHC matchup. Despite a three-goal period from the Dutchwomen in the first, the Cougars turned it around to come out with a 5-3 win.
Lebanon Valley scored two goals around the halfway point of the period, stopping only when sophomore winger Lauren Carmody found the back of the net off of passes from classmate Allison Corser-James and senior Ashley Marchant. The Dutchwomen would notch one more goal before the period was through.
The Cougars took the reins in the second period, however. After a goal from Junior Brooke Almond was called off, she responded with another thanks to a tip off of a shot from sophomore Ally Nolan, who had received a pass from Corser-James. Senior Fiona Danahy was up next, scoring the first of two consecutive Cougar power play goals. Danahy would be assisted by Almond and first-year Samantha Barrett. Nolan was back again for the Cougars' fourth goal, finding open space solo to give Chatham the lead for the first time all game.
Chatham would score their fifth goal of the game early in the third. First-year Victoria Jeffords tallied her first collegiate goal off of a net-front opportunity created by Danahy and sophomore Abi Fuzaylov. This would be the lone goal for the Cougars in the period, though they dominated offensively.
Danahy, Nolan, Corser-James, and Almond all finished the game with two points. Sophomore Cameron Carmody won a game-high 12 draws.
In net, senior Katy Reed stopped 18 shots.
The Cougars host the Dutchwomen again tomorrow, January 22nd, at 2 PM back at Pittsburgh Ice Arena.
