Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Cougars Trounced by Presidents

WASHINGTON, Pa. - January 19, 2022 - Women's Basketball headed to Washington this evening for a PAC matchup against Washington and Jefferson. After a low-scoring first half, the Presidents would turn up their offensive effort to defeat the visiting Cougars 55-28.

The first quarter would see just 16 points total, seven of which came from the Cougars. The Cougars would strike in the fourth minute of the quarter thanks to a layup by first-year Emily Durkee. She was followed by classmate Aurielle Brunner before graduate Maddy Grennes jumped in with a three-pointer.

The second quarter's offense would sway more in W&J's direction. The Presidents would go for ten straight points before Grennes contributed a jumper, followed by classmate Julianna Skowron. Senior Brittani Smith would add the Cougars' final points of the half with a jumper in the final 90 seconds.

Skowron and first-year Zelimar Rodriguez would contribute two point each in the third, followed by a good free throw from first-year Hailey Morris to make the score 42-18 in favor of the host team.

Chatham would round up 15 more points in the final quarter thanks to Skowron, Smith, and juniors Sierra McClain and Nicole Mellinger.

Skowron led the Cougars with six points, followed by Grennes and Mellinger with five apiece. Durkee led the Cougars in steals with three. Skowron also added a game-high seven rebounds, followed by Grennes and McClain with six and five respectively.
