UTICA, NY - January 15, 2022 - Women's Hockey faced off against Utica again this afternoon in game two of their regular-season series. Utica would ultimately come out on top with a 5-0 win.
The Cougars were able to hold the Pioneers off through the first period, senior goaltender
Katy Reed making six stops in the process.
Utica, however, would turn up their offensive intensity in the remaining periods, netting two and three goals respectively and leaving Reed to stop 28 more shots.
Offensively, sophomore
Cameron Carmody won a team-high 15 face-offs in the circle. She would also lead the team in shots with eight, followed by classmate
Allison Corser-James with three.
Defensively, junior
Dena Akers would contribute two blocks, while
Brooke Almond,
Ashley Marchant,
Allison Corser-James,
Grace Pavlovich,
Roxee Hughes,
Fiona Danahy,
Lauren Carmody, and
Erin Carter would claim one each.
The Cougars now stand at 7-8 overall and 6-6 in conference. They return to play next Friday, January 21st at 7 PM against Lebanon Valley at the Hunt Armory in Shadyside.
