PITTSBURGH, Pa. – September 28, 2021 – The Chatham women's soccer team smothered Bethany College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener, blanking the Bison 3-0 on home soil. The win evens Chatham's overall record at 3-3-1.
The Cougars dominated the tempo from the opening whistle, getting several good looks off. Chatham recorded 10 first-half corner kicks, including six in the first 12:26 of action. Despite this, the first and only tally of the first 45 minutes came in the 32
nd minute. Senior
Emily Martz launched a rocket from near the 35-yard line that got tipped by the Bethany goalkeeper. Junior
Emily Harvey slipped past the Bethany defense and headed the ball into the net.
The second half was dominated by senior
Morgan Anderson. She scored both goals of the second half, the first coming in the 61
st when she buried an upper 90 shot off the left side of the goal. Anderson would get the feed from senior
Kere O'Donnell to make the score 3-0 with 13 minutes left, which turned out to be the final.
The Chatham defense did not allow a shot on goal all game long thanks to the stellar efforts of the Cougar defenders. The lone shot taken by Bethany going wide right of the net late in the second half. The Bison committed five fouls, but Chatham did have six in the conference opener.
20 total Cougars saw action, with Martz and junior
Tyler Colburn playing all 90 minutes. Nine of those Chatham players had at least one shot on goal with junior

Chatham heads on the road for a Sunday matinee in Latrobe with Saint Vincent College beginning at 1:00.
