Women's Lacrosse's Season Ends in PAC Semifinals

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – April 28, 2021 – The Chatham women's lacrosse team saw its best ever season come to an end in the PAC semifinals at the hands of the visiting Thiel Tomcats 23-18.
 
Both teams traded the first three goals of the game, but Chatham assumed a slim 6-4 lead. That advantage shrunk to 8-7 and later melted away with just two seconds left as the Tomcats tied the game at 8-8 heading into the break.
 
It appeared as if the Cougars were getting ready to launch an assault against Thiel. Two Cougar goals were scored within the first 36 seconds to put Chatham up 10-8 and later 13-11 early in the second half. However, things took a turn for the hosts as Thiel rattled off a 10-2 run to take a six-goal lead. Chatham had some answers, but it wasn't enough as Thiel eliminated the Cougars.
 
The high scoring game featured Thiel outshooting Chatham 44-40 and 37-32 on goal. Both teams made 14 saves while Chatham held advantages in ground balls (32-30), draw controls (23-18), turnovers (18-16) and free-position shots (10-8).
 
For the game, graduate Bria Braddock scored a team-best five goals and six points. Classmate became the first Cougar to eclipse the 100-career point plateau with a four-score performance. Junior Rachel Borucki scored three times, graduate Rachel Belles and junior Brielle Rapsas both had two goals and one assist, sophomore Phallon Kilduff had a goal and an assist and classmate Mikaela Lane handed out two assists of her own. In net, sophomore Aria Dietrich made 14 saves.
 
Chatham finishes the season at 7-3 overall and 5-1 in PAC play. The Cougars tied the single season win mark with seven and obliterated the winning percentage mark at .700. Throughout the year, Chatham set program records in single game points (36), ground balls (47) and caused turnovers (21). Rapsas set the single-season assist record with 16 while Braddock set program records in ground balls (83) and caused turnovers (26) in a season.
