PITTSBURGH, Pa. - April 23, 2021 - Chatham Softball played to yet another split this evening with Waynesburg University. The Yellow Jackets topped game one with an 8-2 finish and the Cougars stole game two with a single run scored.
Chatham's first run of the night came from graduate shortstop Lauren McNany with a fly ball to center, scoring first-year catcher Mackenzie Dunn who walked in the Cougars' first at-bat.
It would take until the fourth inning for the Yellow Jackets' bats to wake up, finishing with three runs. The Cougars could only offer up one more run through sophomore Lauren Haak, who took two bases on a throw-down error.
Game two was a battle of the pitchers with four and a half scoreless innings. Chatham's lone run was scored by first-year Lindsay Hans, who was brought in by a left field line double from graduate student Paige Shaftic.
Chatham's four hits in game two were supplied by Hans, Shaftic, McNany, and Kelsey Benjamin.
In the circle, graduate student Kayla Gee tied her single-game high with 12 strikeouts.
The Cougars look to continue their win streak in their next series at home against Thiel College on Monday, April 26th at 6:30 and 8:30 PM.
