PITTSBURGH, Pa. -
March 5, 2021 - Chatham Women's Hockey hosted Nazareth College this afternoon for their fifth UCHC contest of the season. Nazareth took charge immediately, leaving the Cougars on defense for the majority of the game. Nazareth ultimately defeated Chatham 6-0.
The game action started evenly, until Nazareth scored eight minutes into the game. Chatham struggled with penalties all game long, which was reflected in Nazareth's second goal shortly after - a 5-on-3 power play. Nazareth would get one more power play goal in the game, with Chatham successfully killing off the other five.
Junior goaltender
Katy Reed was busy in net, facing 40 shots from the Golden Flyers. Sophomore
Dena Akers was on top of her defensive game, logging a season-high five blocks.Â
On the offensive side, junior
Ashley Marchant led the Cougars with five shots on goal, followed by senior
Sydney Collins and first-year
Allison Corser-James with four each. Unfortunately for the Cougars, Nazareth's Adrianna Brehm stopped all fifteen scoring attempts.
Chatham gets another shot at beating Nazareth tomorrow, March 6th, as they travel to Rochester, New York. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM.
