Rapsas Sets Program Records in Blowout Win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – March 21, 2020 – Junior Brielle Rapsas set two individual single game records with seven assists and 11 points in Chatham's 25-3 victory over Waynesburg. The victory keeps Chatham's record clean at 2-0.
 
Other single-game team records fell in the Cougars' win. They had a program record 36 points with 25 goals and 11 assists. The win also marks the program's most lopsided victory in program history, surpassing the old mark by two goals.
 
It took Chatham just 12:23 to evoke the running clock thanks to some quick scoring. Chatham struck in the first 35 seconds from a goal by freshman Stephanie Walter, the first of seven assists as well for Rapsas. Chatham went up 16-2 at the halftime break after outshooting the Yellow Jackets 25-3, including 21-3 on goal.
 
The second half was where Rapsas began to hand out assists at a rapid rate. She had four assists in the latter 30 minutes of play, including on the final two goals. Chatham at this point had gone up 25-2 before the Yellow Jackets added a final goal on a free position.
 
Chatham outshot Waynesburg on the day 41-5, including 34-4 on goal. Chatham went 10-13 on clears while holding the Yellow Jackets to just 4-13. The Cougars held sizable leads in ground balls 28-9, turnovers 23-10 and draw controls 18-10.
 
Outside of Rapsas, many other Cougars had highlight games. Graduate student Bria Braddock scored a game-best five goals and was a perfect 5/5 in shots on goal. Sophomore Phallon Kilduff also had four goals on four shots on goal. Sophomore Mikaela Lane and junior Rachel Borucki had a trio of goals, freshmen Darryn Sleeman and Natalie Smith had a pair of tallies while freshmen Cora Schaab and Walter each had one apiece.
 
The Cougars look for more success next week when they travel to Saint Vincent on Saturday, March 27 for a 3 p.m. start.
