WAYNESBURG, Pa. – March 20, 2020 – The Chatham men's soccer team returned after a nine-day layoff but ultimately fell short at Waynesburg 1-0. The Cougars' record goes to 0-2 after Saturday's events.
 
The first half was played to a defensive stalemate. Both teams mustered just one shot on goal through the first 45 minutes, but the Cougars held a 6-3 overall advantage in shots. The fiery first half remained scoreless between the two squads.
 
Waynesburg broke the ice at the 57
th minute and it turned out to be all the home team needed to secure the win. Waynesburg came out firing, recording seven shots on goal, more than twice of what Chatham had. After the Cougars had a chance late in the 88
th minute, they could not pull through and dropped game two of the season.
 
Chatham held the overall shot advantage 13-12 but were out shot on net 8-4. The Cougars also committed 18 fouls, nine in each half, and had five chances on corner kicks.
 
First-year goalkeeper 
Timmy Creamer had a valiant effort in the box, stopping seven Yellow Jacket shots. Sophomore 
Leandro Nasso had the most chances to put the Cougars on the board with a pair of shots, both on goal. Classmate 
Emmet Taub had a game-high five total shots.
 
Chatham hits the road again next week when it travels to Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, March 27 with a 4:00 kick.
