Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Cougars Put Up 19 to Defeat Bison

BETHANY, WV - March 13, 2021 - Chatham Men's Lacrosse traveled to Bethany College this afternoon to face off in their second game of the year. The Cougars put up a clinic on the Bison, more than tripling their goals to bring home a win.

Despite an even-keeled start to the first quarter, senior Daniel Napier got the Cougar offense flowing with an unassisted goal, followed shortly after by Tyler Hayes in the same fashion.

The Cougars carried their scoring momentum into the second quarter, starting with a goal by senior Ben Neal, assisted by Napier. Hayes struck again less than a minute later, doing it all himself once again.

Bethany responded with a single goal after giving up four to the Cougars, but their luck did not last long with Neal firing one past Bethany's Andrew Smith, again from Napier.

Senior Adam Bleess took advantage of Chatham's man-up situation, making the most of a pass from Hayes to conclude the second quarter.Though the third started with a Bison goal, it did not take long for Napier and Neal to strike back. Junior Nicholas Guaglione, who assisted on Napier's goal, scored his own just minutes later with help from senior Jerad Wilson.

The quarter ended with consecutive goals from Michael Porreca, Jacob Sivley, and Hayes and Guaglione once again.

Hayes led the offense into the fourth quarter, scoring just 15 seconds in. Porreca, Guaglione, and Napier put up one more goal each before Justin McCloskey and Dillon Dugan netted their firsts of the day.

In net, Junior Shane Gaglione made a season-high eight saves throughout 51 minutes of play.

Sophomore Zach Mayan won 14 face-offs with Chase Baggs contributing seven more wins.

Logan Brubaker IV led the Cougars in caused turnovers with two.

With the win, the Cougars now stand at 2-0 in non-conference play. They look to continue building their record next Wednesday with a 7 PM game at Westminster College.
