Men’s Hockey Blanks Nazareth for Weekend Sweep

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - March 13, 2021 - Chatham Men's Hockey returned from their 4-2 win over Nazareth last night looking to maintain the momentum. The Cougars did just that, shutting out the Golden Flyers to complete the series sweep.

The Cougars managed a goal in every period, starting with sophomore Matt Mood's to conclude the first period. Assists were credited to senior Chris Lutz and sophomore Aidan Girduckis who set Mood up with a perfect net-front opportunity.

Chatham carried their scoring power into the second, getting to work right away with a goal by senior Chad Bell from Cory King and Aidan Girduckis just over a minute into the period. Chris Lutz was next in line, capitalizing on a backdoor goal fed from the corner by juniors Michael Lamison and Tristan Simm on the power play.

Girduckis, who leads the team in assists, found his way to the back of the net with a third period wrist shot to cap off the evening, thanks to passes by King and junior Anthony Dom. The defenseman finished with a game-high three points.

In goal, junior Ricardo Gonzalez was flawless throughout all 37 shots fired his way, including 14 and 15 in the first and second periods respectively.

Mood and Niko Moulakelis led the Cougars in shots with five. Senior centermen Chris Lutz and Cory King each won nine draws in the circle.

With the win, the Cougars advance to a 4-2 conference record. Their next game is Friday, March 19th when they host the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley.
