Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Pollock Nets 30 in Loss to Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – February 27, 2021 – Despite junior Ben Pollock's career day, Chatham fell on the road 88-81 to the first-placed Westminster Titans on Saturday. The loss evens Chatham's record at 4-4.

The first half was played to the tune of a 36-32 advantage for the hosting Titans. Despite the score being within eight points in the first half, Chatham could not gain the lead in the first 20 minutes of action. Both teams could not get in a rhythm from deep range, with Chatham going 2-13 from three while Westminster coming up empty on eight attempts.

The second half was a much different story. Both teams made over half of their shots in what proved to be a high-scoring half of basketball. Pollock scored 18 points in the second half, more than all but one of Westminster's players for the entire game. Chatham did manage to take a one-point lead early in the half, but Westminster quickly snatched it back and eventually pulled away for the victory.

Westminster had two players record double-digit rebounds and controlled Chatham on the glass 50-33. The Titans also found their way to the free throw line on numerous occasions, converting 21 of 25 attempts.

Pollock scored 30 points on 12-15 from the field and 6-7 from the line, adding 10 rebounds and three blocks. Sophomore Marcos Cintron was second on the team with 17 points on a hat trick of threes. Sophomore Brandon Lavernia, junior Brandon Bennett and senior Malik Potter all finished with 10 points, with the latter of the three finishing one rebound away from a double-double.

The Cougars finish the regular season in nine days with a home match against Thiel at the Athletics and Fitness Center on Monday, March 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
