Women’s Swimming and Diving Bounces Back with Tri Meet Win

STEUBENVILLE, OHIO - February 20, 2021 - The Chatham Women's Swimming and Diving Team moved their winning percentage up from .000 to .500 today after earning a pair of wins against Franciscan University and Bethany College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) tri meet.

The Cougars took down the Barons by a narrow four points for a final score of 124-120 and blew the Bison out 166-17.

Chatham came out strong from the start, winning the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:03.87. The team consisted of first-year Rachel Lloyd, sophomore Carlee Shreve, first-year Abigail Glasspool, and graduate student Mallory Marzolf.

After earning first in the relay, junior Charity Fannie and Marzolf took home first in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke with times of 2:16.19 and 1:00.72 respectively. These victories were followed by a first-place finish by Glasspool in the 50 Freestyle (28.14) and another Freestyle win for Marzolf in the 100 (54.63).

The Cougars continued to bring the heat in the back half of the meet with Rachel Lloyd's 200 Backstroke win at 2:29.61 and Carlee Shreve's top finish in the 500 Freestyle with 5:47.87.

To round out the meet, the team of Marzolf, Lloyd, Charity Fannie, and Glasspool swam to a 1:52.91 finish in the 200 Freestyle relay, beating the next closest team by nearly nine seconds.

In addition to the many first-place finishes, there were several second-place achievements earned by Faith Fannie, Jennifer Elder, and the swimmers who placed first in other events.

The PAC Swimming and Diving Championships are scheduled to start on March 1st, 2021 at Grove City College where the Cougars look to continue their streak of top finishes.
