Chatham Falls on Road to Defending PAC Champions

GROVE CITY, Pa. – February 17, 2021 – The Chatham men's basketball team fought valiantly against the defending PAC champion Grove City Wolverines but ended up on the losing side of a 69-56 decision with the hosts. The loss evens the Cougars' record at 2-2.

Chatham kept the game close in the first half, even leading by two with just over nine minutes to go in the first half of play. However, the Cougars went cold in the second half, especially from deep range. Chatham went 4-24 from beyond the arc (.167 shooting) and finished the game shooting just under 35% from the floor. Grove City, on the other hand, shot the ball at a .462 clip.

Chatham used its size to its advantage, swiping seven blocks compared to Grove City's two, and had a slim 15-12 turnover advantage. However, Grove City distributed the ball at a higher rate with 22 assists compared to Chatham's nine.

Three Cougars reached double digit points in the defeat. Junior Ben Pollock led the purple and white with a double-double, scoring a dozen points to go along with 13 rebounds and four blocks. Senior Malik Potter was close behind with 11 points, and sophomore Marcos Cintron added 10 points in his return to his hometown.

Chatham looks to rebound on its home floor on Saturday, February 20 with a home meeting against Geneva at 1 p.m. at the Athletics & Fitness Center.
