ALLIANCE, Ohio - December 4, 2021 - Chatham University's Indoor Track and Field squads traveled to the University of Mount Union today for their first meet of the 2021-22 season.
On the track, several Cougars had standout performances. Senior Brett Seich finished first of two in the 1000 run, coming in at 2:54.73. Earlier in the day, he secured a fourth place finish in the mile at 4:50.99. Sophomore Macie Janto finished eighth and ninth in the mile and 800 run, finishing at 6:48.88 and 2:56.83 respectively. Sophomore Isaiah Sales would also run the 800, finishing 11th at 2:16.17.
The Cougars saw several top-ten and top-25 finishes in field events. Graduate Alexia Page-Boyd threw 12.48m for a seventh place finish in the weight throw, then 8.62m for 12th place in the shot put. First-year Violeta Kenzevich threw 10.16 in the shot put for an 11th place finish.
For women's jumps, junior Morgan Heller finished 11th in the long jump, landing at 3.74m.
Justin Desabato had an active day in the field, jumping 5.62m in the long jump before throwing 7.81m in the shot put, finishing both events in the top-25.
Alexander Coutts also participated in shot put, following Desabato with 6.13m before obtaining a 4.67m weight throw. Brent Clutter would finish 19th in the weight throw with a distance of 9.50m.
The Cougars return to competition on Saturday, January 15th at Edinboro for the Al Hall Freedom Games.
