COLMAR, Pa. – December 4, 2021 – The Chatham men's hockey team made it two wins in a row after Saturday's 4-2 win at Arcadia. The Cougars improve their record to 3-5-2 overall and 3-2-2 in UCHC play.
Arcadia struck first with 4:26 remaining in the first, but just 21 seconds later the answer was found by junior
Kenneth Gill after getting assists from classmate
Andrew Warhoftig and sophomore
Carson Grainer. The score remained 1-1 after one period.
A similar outcome came about in the second period, with the Knights scoring on the power play to take a 2-1 lead. However, the Cougars would strike twice to go up 3-2 after two. The first goal was by sophomore
Max Wigfield after getting feeds by seniors
Michael Lamison and
Jason Bauer. Warhoftig then scored on the power play on what turned out to be the eventual game winner with Lamison and first-year
Zack Conner assisting.
In the third period, Chatham got some insurance just a little over four minutes in. Grainer scored the goal on the power play with juniors
Aidan Girduckis and
Matt Mood handing out the assists.
Chatham was narrowly outshot 26-25 by the Knights but the Cougars were able to make their shots count when it mattered most. Chatham did win the faceoff battle 33-30. Senior
Ricardo Gonzalez made 24 saves in net.
The Cougars have a near one-month hiatus before returning to home ice on Sunday, January 2 against Trine with the puck dropping at 2:30.
