Cougars Fall to Valiants After Second Period Scoring

PURCHASE, NY - December 3, 2021 - Chatham Women's Hockey traveled to Purchase, New York this evening to take on the Manhattanville Valiants in a UCHC matchup. Despite two first-period goals, the Cougars ultimately fell to the Valiants 3-2.

Sophomore Ally Nolan was the first to get on the board for either team, getting a pass from classmate Lauren Carmody.

Manhattanville would respond quickly for the equalizer on the power-play, but junior defenseman Dena Akers would net her first of the season in the period's final seconds. First-years Trinity Antonio and Samantha Barrett were credited with the assists on the play.

In the second period, Manhattanville dominated the offense, scoring two goals to put them ahead as a result. The third period, despite several solid attempts for the Cougars, would end scoreless.

Nolan would end with a game-high eight shots on goal out of the Cougars' 31. In the circle, Cameron Carmody won a team-best 10 face-offs.

Defensively, senior goaltender Katy Reed made 24 saves in the effort, aided by junior Brooke Almond who contributed four blocks.

The Cougars have another shot at the Valiants tomorrow, December 4th, at 3:30 PM.
