NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – December 18, 2021 – The Chatham men's basketball team got back in the win column after a strong offensive performance on the road at Penn State New Kensington, 89-60. The win puts the Cougars' record at 6-1 overall.
It was a slightly sluggish start for the Cougars as they fell behind 6-2 early on and traded leads until both teams reached 16 points. Chatham embarked on a 14-0 run to balloon the lead to double digits, where it rained for the majority of the first half and remainder of the game. The score read 41-27 Cougars at the break.
Chatham's offense again came alive in the second half, scoring 48 points in the latter 20 minutes of action and all but put the game to bed. The Cougars shot an impressive 63% from the floor in the second half on 19-30 shooting.
For the game, Chatham finished above 50% from the floor at 54% on 36 made baskets. Four Cougars eclipsed double figures, with senior
Malik Potter leading the way at 18 points and handing out six assists. Classmate
Ben Pollock had a double-double off the bench with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Also scoring in double digits were sophomore
Simon Boyer at a dozen and junior
Marcos Cintron at 10.
The Cougars return to the floor on Wednesday, December 29 with a post-Christmas showdown at Pitt-Greensburg beginning at 1:00.
