Women’s Hockey Suffers First Conference Loss

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - November 5, 2021 - Chatham Women's Hockey hosted Nazareth College tonight in their first UCHC matchup of the season. Nazareth, seeded #1 in the most recent UCHC poll, came out on top of a 6-0 final.

The Cougars were able to fend off the Golden Flyers for the better part of the first period with sophomore goaltender Lilly Rogers making eight saves to frustrate the Nazareth offense. The Golden Flyers would net two late goals before the period expired.

Nazareth would carry their scoring momentum over into the second,  netting another two goals between Rogers' eight saves. Sophomore Lauren Carmody would contribute the bulk of the Cougar offense for the period, tallying three shots.

In the third, Rogers made a game high nine saves while the Cougars got nine shots off at the other end, five of which came from sophomore Allison Corser-James. The Golden Flyers would find the back of the net twice more.

Neither team would score on the power play, but the Cougars would deny six Nazareth scoring attempts. Chatham's power play units dominated in the offensive zone, recording nine shots.

In the circle, sophomore Cameron Carmody would win a team-high seven face-offs, followed by classmate Ally Nolan and junior Brooke Almond with six and five respectively.

Carmody and Almond would both have a productive day on defense as well, combining for seven blocks.

The Cougars will give the Golden Flyers another go tomorrow, November 6th, at 2 PM to close out the series.
