Cougars Win Hard Fought Battle Against Bengals

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - November 17, 2021 - Women's Hockey hosted Buffalo State tonight in a non-conference matchup. Despite a back-and-forth scoring battle, the Cougars came out on top of a 4-2 final.

The Cougars and Bengals played to a draw in the first period, with the home team striking first. First-year Trinity Antonio capitalized off of a rebound created by sophomore Allison Corser-James, who had received a scoring-position pass from classmate Cameron Carmody.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Buffalo State would mimic the Cougars' play just minutes later.

The second period would go scoreless, with senior goaltender Katy Reed making 11 saves. Chatham peppered Buffalo State's Jessica Auge with 19 shots, but were unsuccessful in finding the back of the net.

The third period saw all the action, with Corser-James netting the first goal around the seven-minute mark with help again from Antonio and Carmody.

Though the Bengals would answer back within a minute, the Cougars kept pressing forward with their offense as Corser-James helped sophomore Ally Nolan to score the game-winner.

As insurance, Cameron Carmody sent a shot into Buffalo State's empty net to make the final score 4-2.

Reed would finish with 23 saves in goal.

Corser-James led the team in points with four and shots on goal with seven, followed by first-year Lauryn Hawley with six.

The Cougars jump back into conference play this weekend as they travel to King's College.
