PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - November 14, 2021 - Chatham Squash completed their trip out east with a split against Franklin and Marshall. The men came out on top 7-2 while the women fell 6-1.
Men's Squash saw convincing 3-0 wins from Luis Moncada Gonzalez and Agustin Carranza. Abdul Malik, Owais Rasheed, Lucas Oliveira, and Mohamed Sadek defeated their respective opponents 3-1.
Senior Vinicius Ennius Muniz and first-year Jared Nalliah had perhaps the most exciting matches, with both going set for set. Muniz would eventually fall in the fifth set, but Nalliah would prevail with an 11-7 victory. Cristopher Tejada would also go on to win in the fifth set.
For the women, sophomore Sofia Ramos Fortanelli was the heroine of the squad once again, beating Franklin and Marshall's Audrey Berling 3-1. Classmate Valentina Della-Maddalena had the next closest set at 11-7, but ultimately lost 3-0 to Aryaa Ogale.
Chatham Squash is through their schedule for the first semester, but returns to competition on Friday, January 14, 2021 against St. Lawrence.
