GREENSBURG, Pa. - November 13, 2021 - Chatham Women's Basketball traveled to Pitt Greensburg for an afternoon matchup against the Bobcats. With a convincing lead throughout the game, the Cougars secured their third straight non-conference victory with a 65-48 final.
Graduate Julianna Skowron was the first Cougar on the board, followed soon by classmate Brittani Smith with a three. Maddy Grennes would extend the Cougars' lead thereafter before first-year Aurielle Brunner got in on the action.
In the second quarter, Skowron continued to dominate with help from first-year Emily Durkee who would put up seven points in those ten minutes alone. Classmate Zelimar Rodriguez would sub in and immediately contribute to the offense with a layup, followed by two good free throws from senior captain Aliyah Labriola. To close out the quarter with a 29-21 lead, Brunner struck yet again.
Chatham would net another 21 points in the third quarter, thanks to multiple net drives from Grennes, Smith, and junior Riley D'Angelo.
To polish off the Bobcats in the fourth quarter, Durkee, Skowron, Smith, and D'Angelo combined for Chatham's final 15 points.
First-year Emily Durkee had a team-high, career-high 17 points, shooting 7-9 for field goals and adding 3 assists.
Following Durkee were graduates Smith and Skowron with 11 and 10 respectively. Smith also collected a team-high nine rebounds and the team's sole block of the day.
First-year Zelimar Rodriguez added two steals to her five-point day.
The Cougars now improve to 3-0 in advance of their first PAC matchup against Thiel on Tuesday, November 16 at home.
