PITTSBURGH, Pa. - October 9, 2021 - Chatham University hosted Westminster College and Waynesburg University today in a PAC trimatch. Chatham won its first set of the day, but ultimately fell to Westminster 3-1 before sweeping Waynesburg.
The Cougars opened up with a convincing lead over Westminster, which they would maintain for a 25-22 victory. However, the reigning PAC Champions fought back, taking the next three sets 25-19, 25-15, and 25-22.
Despite the loss, Chatham's offense thrived. Emily Richie was responsible for 15 of the team's 44 kills in game one, with Macy King and Kaley Davis contributing 8 and 7 respectively. Baileigh Horan dominated the net, recording three crucial blocks for the home team. Adriana Conforti had a solid day at the service line, tallying three aces. Shaelah Pepperman and Meghan Dominek would add two aces of their own. Pepperman also racked up 39 assists.
Game two was another opportunity for the Cougars to demonstrate their offensive talents. Macy King led the way with 10 kills, followed by Emily Richie with nine and Rylee Ritko with five. Meghan Dominek and Paige Bogozi combined for five aces, four assists, and 32 digs. Baileigh Horan and Macy King worked perfectly in tandem yet again, coming up with four blocks. The match was over in three sets, with the Cougars allowing just 15, 10, and 14 points.
With the win and loss, the Cougars stand at 12-4 overall, 7-2 in conference. Their next contest is Tuesday, October 12th at Washington and Jefferson College.
