PITTSBURGH, Pa. – October 6, 2021 – In a tightly contested PAC women's soccer match, Chatham fought off Waynesburg at home 1-0 on Wednesday evening. The win improves Chatham's record to 5-3-1 overall and 3-0 in PAC play.
Senior
Morgan Anderson proved to be the difference maker as she scored early in the first half, just 12 minutes and 17 seconds into the game. The rest of the game was a stalemate between the two defenses attempting to gain positioning in the pitch.
Unlike the first two conference games, Chatham did not dominate the shots category despite having a considerable advantage. The Cougars outshot the Yellow Jackets 18-11 including 11-5 on goal. Most of the Waynesburg shots were courtesy of the five corners.
Junior goalkeeper
Tyler Colburn and senior
Emily Martz both played all 90 minutes with the former stopping all five shots on goal fired her way. Anderson was responsible for more than half of the Cougars shots on goal with six, with the others being sent by Martz and two each for senior
Paxton Steffy and junior
Maggie Toomey.
The women's soccer team turns its attention to Washington & Jefferson and Senior Day on Saturday, October 9 at UPMC Graham Field. Kickoff is set for 12:30.
