PITTSBURGH, Pa. - October 6, 2021 -Â Chatham Men's Soccer hosted Waynesburg this evening in a PAC matchup. Despite a scoreless first half, Chatham came out on top thanks to a two-goal night from senior midfielder Ryan Tahbaz.
Chatham's offense got started early with shots from first-year Xander Pinto, senior Ken Richard, and sophomore Pascal Despinos.
Waynesburg struggled to get past Chatham's defense, not registering a shot until the 30-minute mark of the first half. The scoring attempt was denied by first-year goalkeeper Trevor Rose.
Nearly halfway into the second half, Chatham would get on the board thanks to a play by Pinto that put Tahbaz in scoring position, which he capitalized on. The assist marked Pinto's first collegiate point.
Rose continued to hold down the defensive fort while the Cougars continued wearing down the Waynesburg defense. Tahbaz would come up big once again, this time with an assist from junior Marco Piccolo, to put the Yellow Jackets down by two with under a minute left in regulation.
The Cougars finished the game with 10 shots on goal, half of which came from Ryan Tahbaz. Pinto contributed two more, and Piccolo, Nasso and Richard each landed a shot on net.
Trevor Rose made eight saves in goal, including one in the final seconds of the game.
The Cougars improve to 5-4-1 overall, 2-1 in conference. They look to continue their streak on Saturday, October 9th as they host Washington and Jefferson.
