Early Scoring Too Much for Cougars at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. - October 3, 2021 - Chatham traveled to Saint Vincent this afternoon for their second conference game of the season. After two goals within the first six minutes of the game, the Cougars fell short of a comeback, ending the game 2-1 and shifting to a 1-1 record in PAC play.

The Cougars fell behind just shy of three minutes into the game, and the deficit was doubled a mere three minutes later.

Chatham took the quick goals as a wake-up call, turning up the intensity on both the offensive and defensive fronts. The Cougars would register 11 shots in the first and make three saves at the other end.

At the end of the first half, the Cougars would get on the board thanks to sophomore Pascal Despinos, with an assist to senior Ryan Tahbaz. The goal was Despinos' sixth of the season.

The second half would not see a goal from either team despite shots from both teams. First-year goalkeeper Trevor Rose made three saves to maintain the one-goal deficit, but Chatham's offensive attempts were unsuccessful at the other end.

The Cougars continued their aggressive play style, racking up 15 fouls and a yellow card as opposed to Saint Vincent's 12 and three respectively.

Despinos led the offensive charge, firing off six shots. He was followed by Tahbaz with five and junior Marco Piccolo with two. Rose would end the game with six saves.

The Cougars are back in PAC action on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:30 PM when they host Waynesburg at Graham Field.
