Volleyball Ties Single-Season Wins Record with Saint Vincent Sweep

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - October 26, 2021 - Chatham Volleyball hosted Saint Vincent tonight in their third-to-final regular season matchup. Despite an extended first set, the Cougars pushed through to a straight-set victory, with scores of 26-24, 25-20, and 25-16. The win pushes Chatham to 17 total this season, tying the previous single-season wins from 2017

Set one was back and forth until Chatham pulled ahead halfway through thanks to kills by graduate Macy King, sophomore Baileigh Horan, and first-year Kaley Davis. Saint Vincent would come back to tie it several times before pulling ahead at the 24-23 mark. Chatham forced three straight errors upon the Bearcats for three set-ending points with sophomore Paige Bogozi behind the line.

Chatham maintained a lead throughout all of set two, getting ahead by as much as eight points. Sophomore Amelia Bogovich started off the scoring with two service aces, supplemented by kills from Davis and senior Emily Richie. Bogovich was back for more on the offensive front, racking up several kills of her own along with King, Bogozi, and junior Shaelah Pepperman.

The Cougars again took an early lead over the Bearcats in the third set, dominating the floor and overwhelming the opposing defense. Bogovich, Richie, Davis, Bogozi, King, and Horan worked together to diminish any possibility of a Bearcat comeback. Junior Rylee Ritko and sophomore Adriana Conforti both contributed service aces, as did Bogovich, who would eventually secure the Cougars' 25th point with a deceptive hit over the Bearcat blockers.

Emily Richie lead the Cougars in kills tonight with 11, followed by Amelia Bogovich with 10 and Kaley Davis with 9. Shaelah Pepperman assisted on 37 kills. Bogovich also recorded four aces, followed by Conforti with two.

Macy King was a solid net-front presence, securing two blocks. Meghan Dominek had a game-high 17 digs, preventing the Bearcats from gaining any ground.

The Cougars now have 11 conference wins on the season and look to add another this coming Thursday, October 28th, with their senior night game against Thiel.
