PITTSBURGH, Pa. - October 28th, 2021 - Chatham Volleyball hosted Thiel this evening in their final home matchup of the regular season. The Cougars earned a straight-set victory with results of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-21.
Despite some back-and-forth play in set one, the Cougars held onto their lead from their fourth point on. Senior Emily Richie was the star of her own senior game, starting the Cougar scoring off with two straight kills. She would be joined by sophomores Amelia Bogovich and Baileigh Horan, as well as graduate Macy King and first-year Kaley Davis in overwhelming the Thiel defense.
The Cougars trailed several times in set two, but their offensive resilience came to light yet again. At 19-17 Thiel, Richie fired three kills off the Tomcat side of the court, aided by junior Shaelah Pepperman. Bogovich would add an ace, and the Tomcats would commit several errors to get the Cougars to 25.
Chatham battled back in set three, seeing crucial attacks by Davis, Richie, Bogovich, and sophomore Baileigh Horan. Adriana Conforti would contribute one of her two service aces on the night to keep the Cougar momentum up heading into the final five points needed to end the set.
Emily Richie had a game-high 14 kills, followed by Amelia Bogovich with 12. Baileigh Horan, Macy King, and Richie combined for four blocks, commanding the net. Shaelah Pepperman added 27 assists to her season record, and Meghan Dominek supplied five more as well as 20 digs. Bogovich and Pepperman were also crucial on defense, tallying 19 and 15 digs respectively.
The Cougars improve to 18-6 overall, 13-4 in the PAC. Their final game of the regular season is Saturday, October 30th at Westminster College.
