First Half Scoring Lifts Wolverines over Cougars

GROVE CITY, Pa. - October 16, 2021 - Chatham Men's Soccer traveled to Grove City this evening for a PAC matchup. Chatham suffered the loss and now stands at 6-6-1 overall, 3-3 in conference.

Despite the lack of scoring in the first half, Chatham's offense was dominant. Senior Ryan Tahbaz registered three shots on goal, as did junior Marco Piccolo and first-years Zachary Delgiudice and Xander Pinto. Grove City's Luke Greenway stood strong in net, denying all six shots.

Tahbaz would cut the goal deficit down to one early in the second half thanks to a feed from Piccolo. Unfortunately, Grove City's talented offense would get it back just minutes later.

The Wolverines would ultimately take control late in the second to shut down the Cougars, scoring two more goals in the process to make the final score 5-1.

Ryan Tahbaz finished with a game-high four shots on goal out of the team's eight. In goal, first-year keeper Trevor Rose made five saves to limit the Wolverine offense.

The Cougars recorded just five fouls with the Wolverines almost doubling that total, having to adjust their game to Chatham's speed.

The Cougars have another shot at a conference win this coming Wednesday, October 20th, when they host Westminster College.
