PITTSBURGH, Pa. - October 14, 2021 - Chatham hosted Bethany this evening in their second PAC meeting of the year. Bethany, who had previously swept Chatham 3-0, performed in similar fashion.
Chatham got off to an even start with Bethany before the Bison broke open the scoring, racking up a quick 25 compared to the Cougars' 17 in set one. Junior Rylee Ritko and sophomore Paige Bogozi both came up big for the Cougars, together accounting for several kills.
In set two, Chatham had Bethany on their heels, forcing extra points. At 24-19 Bethany, the Cougars would serve up six straight points to take the lead, with senior Emily Richie taking responsibility for two crucial kills. Unfortunately for the Cougars, Bethany would come back with three straight points to claim the set with 27.
Chatham battled hard in the third set as well, but Bethany's offense proved to be too much. Richie, Bogozi, and junior Shaelah Pepperman would account for the Cougars' offensive success. Chatham, unable to gain a lead, would ultimately fall 25-22.
Emily Richie led the team with nine kills, followed by sophomore Amelia Bogovich with six and Paige Bogozi with four.
On defense, Meghan Dominek led the Cougars with 20 digs. Graduate Macy King would stretch for two blocks, along with Richie and first-year Jessica Taney for one each.
Shaelah Pepperman had an all-around game, recording two aces, 21 assists, and 15 digs.
The Cougars return to play on Saturday, October 16th at 11 AM in Grove City as they look for the complete sweep of the Wolverines, who they defeated in a tense 3-2 game.
