Cougars Fall to Titans in Season Opener

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - January 29, 2021 - Women's Swimming and Diving opened their 2021 season tonight with a meet against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe, Westminster College. The Cougars ultimately fell to the Titans by a final score of 62-164. Despite the loss, several Cougars found individual success in the pool.

Fourth-year swimmer Mallory Marzolf earned a first place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.19 before winning the 100 Yard Freestyle at 55.02. Marzolf took home the gold in the 100 Free at the 2019-2020 PAC Championships, also qualifying for an NCAA Division III B-cut in the preliminaries.

First-year Abigail Glasspool celebrated a pair of top-three finishes in her collegiate swimming debut. She earned third place in the 50 Yard Freestyle (28.20) and the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:08.38).

Junior Charity Fannie collected two second-place finishes in the 1000 Yard Freestyle and 500 Yard Freestyle, earning times of 12:25.14 and 6:03.12 respectively.

First-year Rachel Lloyd picked up a third-place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:09.67) and sophomore Carlee Shreve earned third in the 500 Yard Backstroke (6:05.45).

The Cougars are scheduled to return to the pool on Friday, February 5th at 6 PM for their home opener against Grove City.
