BETHANY, WV. - Feb. 8, 2020 - Chatham (12-8, 5-7) continued conference play on the road Saturday, February 8th as they faced off against Bethany (5-15, 4-7). The Cougars were coming off a home loss on Wednesday, February 5th against Grove City where they fell 86-61.
The Cougars went ahead first, gaining a one point advantage over the Bison after grad student Emily Ondo's jump shot made the score 12-11. The Cougars continued with a 4-0 run to go out in front of Bethany 15-11. Six seconds left to play in the first quarter, the Bison added two free-throws from Kelsie Meintel bringing the Cougar lead to two points heading into the second quarter.
Chatham extended their lead to as many as six in the second quarter, but Bethany continued to fight. The Cougars would come out on top 32-26 going into halftime.
The second half was a back and forth battle between the two teams, as Chatham extended the lead to as many as nine in the third quarter to take a 46-39 lead into the fourth. Chatham was unable to mount a comeback, as they would fall to Bethany halfway through the fourth quarter 62-55.
Grad student Ondo led the way with 18 points and first year Riley D'Angelo added 11 of her own.
The Cougars are back in the den Wednesday, February 12th as they face Thiel in a PAC conference matchup.
